Today’s #FocusAreaFriday is ALSO a #JLSMemberSpotlight on our fearless Community Council Director, Valerie Amparan! This is Val’s 4th active year in the League, and becoming a mom less than a year ago has not slowed her down one bit! She has held several key positions in the #JLSB including New Member Project Co-Chair, Spring Fundraiser Co-Chair, Senior SPAC, and Community Program Chair. She is currently helping to direct our efforts in planning a #FocusArea Signature Project, which will be announced at our 9th Annual #Gala on March 11! When not devoting her passion and talents to the #JuniorLeague, she loves spending time with friends and family and also enjoys playing indoor volleyball. #WeAreJLSB because of dedicated members like Val!

#HumanTraffickingAwarenessMonth Fact: Sex trafficking need not involve actual movement of the victim. A child may be sexually trafficked by a family member, by a gang member within city limits, or out of a hotel/motel within walking distance of a child’s home. It is important to address this common misconception, particularly in the process of identifying and recovering child survivors of domestic sex trafficking. This diagram helps to explain the parties involved. Take a look at this diagram for an explanation of the parties involved with this complicated crime.
